Problems You Didn’t Know You Had

This year was the first year that I heard a lot about mental health awareness. On the discover page Buzzfeed has their own page and the first week of December, they were helping raise awareness for mental health. Anyone who knows me is aware of my obsession with Buzzfeed. From life hacks series to IRL series of videos, I watch them all.

I was watching a few videos here or there but none of them caught my attention like the video about their Try Guys going to therapy. I love watching all of the adventures that they take on together and all the events they experience. Here’s the video!

I really liked seeing how they each had their own concerns. Seeing Eugene realize that some of the other guys felt about the way he acts sometimes. I always thought that therapy was for people who had problems, but after watching this video I realized that it can be for anyone because going to therapy can reveal some problems you never knew existed.

On to the next part…

When I created this blog, I had no expectations. All I wanted was to have fun with this project and really enjoy learning how to write my experiences and reflect on things that I have learned from different events.

Thus far, my most popular post has been “The friend who’s always there”. This post has received 58 views. This is no doubt the most successful. I feel as though this posts was the most successful because many people can relate to this posts the most. posr9

I learned a lot from having this blog. One major thing I noticed is that consistency is really important for the readers. If they have to wait several weeks before the next post, they are less inclined to keep up with the blog. As far as the next part of growing for my blog goes, I hope to expand the topics I cover. I would like to write more about lifestyle and different types of experiences I may have.

Packages wrapped with string…

You suddenly start wondering where this person is. You may not know how but you and this new friend seem to just get along. During your free time you start to hang out with this person. You both learn a little bit about each other, and sooner rather than later you feel like you’ve found someone really special. This type of friend is a lucky find because you know you can cry together and laugh together. You realize no one can make you feel so free. This friend can help all of your problems fade in an instant.

This particular friend might sound similar to the others and that’s aright because in a way they are. This friend has every quality you could possibly want in a friend. They are a bundle of good things wrapped in a package. This friend is such a gem to have because it’s not very often that you can find a friend that has so many good qualities. This friend is always there in any situation no matter how long its been since you’ve last seen each other, they are always there to pick you up and set you on the track to success.

This friend is an all-inclusive package. They know exactly what to say whenever you’re feeling down whether they know what you might or might not be going through. They might tag you in picture that will bring a smile to your face or simply help you hold your head up a little higher. Either way, this friend knows what to say whenever you need someone there. You’ve got a friend in me

This next friend is a little harder to distinguish from the others. They can be misleading, because you may go through periods were you’re not quite sure if they are with you or against you. By that I mean that you might feel that they don’t ever agree with you or, they simply look to start an argument with you. The sign that they are a true friend is when you are having a bad day.

You do not have to say a single word in order for them to understand if you’ve had a bad day. They will only try to make you feel better. The best part about this friend is that they will never suffocate you with questions. If you tell them that you would rather be alone, they disappear! If you tell them that you need to talk to them and you might need some advice, they’ll be there. No matter the scenario, they’re there. Please remember in every other situation when you are perfectly fine, this friend will be rather difficult. I like to compare this friendship to that of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

At first meeting, they did not quite see eye to eye. As their friendship continued they each learned to accept each other’s opinions. Similarly, you may not always see eye to eye, you both know that you’re are there for each other. You can count on the other when you might be down. Finally you know that this friendship is very flexible because you have an understanding of each other’s relationship. Another representation of this type of friendship is this Buzzfeed video about meeting your sarcastic soulmate.

Expert Advice

When I was thinking about what I would write about for my blog, I asked almost all of the people I trusted most. They each came with their different ideas, but I didn’t feel that any of the topics were really for me. So I began reflecting, what have I search and found almost no help on? Advice on friendships. All too often I would find myself staring at pages and pages of advice on relationships.

The friendship blog is a great resource to use whenever you want some advice on friendships. It helps at any point of a friendship. From the beginning to the end of a friendship the friendship blog can always give some helpful advice. Another thing that I liked about this blog was their forms.

The Friendship Blog website
The Friendship Blog website

I enjoyed seeing that people were able to ask the editor questions about any situation they were given I also liked that their community would help each other. They are also very specific on which posts for different situations are located within the blog. I was happy to see that there was a well-developed site for people who may be having trouble in their friendship. So be sure to visit their website here!

The friend who’s always there

This friend is VITAL to your circle. They are always there to have a good laugh. Even on the worst days this friend could make you feel like everything will be alright. They know how to comfort you in the worst of situations. Most importantly they are always there for you. This friend will know how to lift you up.

When you first meet this friend you’ll probably start laughing right away. You may not always have to be around this friend to know that you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off. You both have an understanding that sometimes life might get in the way and that you may not always have time to talk. They are open to hearing what you have to say about different topics.

This friend will always be there for you and you know that they may play an important role in your life once they may not have been talking to you for a few weeks, and then out of the blue they call you. It’s important for a friendship to come naturally. If you feel like they are always bothering you about not have had called or messaged for more than 2 weeks then maybe you are not meant to be friends. It might even feel like they are becoming obsessed with you! In all seriousness, friendship should NOT be a chore, It should be something that you look forward to not something you are dreading. If you think that your friendship is not as easy as it should be sure to read more about attached friends here.

The friend who can tell you the truth

It may be difficult to realize at first, but you’ll know when you’re having a hard day. When you’re really down and you need someone to lift you up, you think of them first. You call them, and expect a nice talk about how you’ll make it through your life issues but instead you are greeted with a conversation completely different.

So on the phone, you begin your rant. At the end instead of a comforting you, you’re hit with by a wall of reality. A true friend can tell you what they really think without any hesitation. Of course, this advice that’s given to you is not given with an intention of harm, it’s given with the intention that you are going to see the truth and that you will be able to rise from whatever situation you may be going through.

After that first talk with my friend, I knew that they were worth keeping throughout my life because they had the quality of being able to tell me the truth. They were comfortable enough to tell me what they really thought. I think that its important for everyone to have a friend that is there for you when you need a reality check. If they have bad intentions when you ask them for advice then maybe you should just move on to better people. If you are struggling to understand whether or not your friend is the correct type of honest, you can read this article.

A New Place, on My Own

When I first get to a new place, I don’t usually talk to anyone but I notice that everyone else seems to have made a ton of friends. While the others mingle about, I sit and scroll through my twitter, hoping someone will come up to me or I’ll run into someone I know and they’ll talk to me. But no, I just end up going through the event by myself, and sometimes I become angry at myself for not being more outgoing or friendly.

In the end I simply accept that I have to practice my social skills and accept that it might take me a little longer to make friends. I know that I can’t simply be mad at myself for never being able to make friends. Recently I have tried to introduce myself to different people. I would go to lunch on my own and try to talk to a stranger and we are able to carry out a decent conversation.

I think that if someone feels that they are lacking in the number of friends they have, they should try to talk to different people. Although it may be a difficult pill to swallow, it’s important not carry a negative attitude whenever someone has to go to a social event or to a meeting where they might have to interact with others. Lastly, it is important not to be intimidated by the success other might have making friends. It becomes easy to compare how quickly someone might be able to make friends, but never lose hope and most importantly keep confidence!

For the Mildly Introverted

Hello, my name is Kimberly. I have never been really good at making friends and feeling comfortable with my standing in large groups of people. My blog will be about the lessons I have learned throughout the years about making friends and learning how to interact with new people. It will also have some tips that I wish someone would have told me whenever I was struggling with the friendships I was in. I plan for it to be a helpful blog for people who are not as outgoing as others and for it to teach them how to interact with others.

This is me (lower left) and my dearest friends; Chris (top left), Jackie (middle front), Valerie (top right), Raul (lower right).

The name of my blog is “For the Mildly Introverted” because I consider myself an introverted person. I also decided to make the blog about friendships and introverted people because I have noticed that there are many blogs for different types people and relationships, but not nearly as many as those for different types of people and friendships. I think that can provide a new source for people who may not be as comfortable at making friends as others may be. I hope to help other people learn how to become a good friend and how to make good friends. I also would like to learn some new friend-making strategies along the way.

While posting on this blog I also hope to improve my doodling skills by drawing out different scenarios from each of my lessons and tips. I hope that I can improve my drawing skills and become a little familiar with the queeky drawing program, and possibly create my own little comic series that goes along with my blog.
